Our Story

“What’s inside your belly button?”

“Where does the water in the faucet come from?”

“How do you say ‘red’ in French?”

“Can you teach me more?”

Is this your child? It’s mine, and the reason I created WonderBlossom Learning Studio.

These are just some of the questions I am bombarded with (often out of the blue, usually at bedtime) on a daily basis. While inconvenient at times, I am fascinated by the wonder with which my daughter approaches the world and I am desperate to preserve and nurture that spark for as long as I can.

This fall, she’ll be starting in our local G&T program and, as a proud public school graduate myself, I know she’ll get a good education. But I also know it won’t fully satisfy her intellectual appetite. Time and resources are limited, and the kind of open-ended, project-based learning that gifted kids truly thrive on often fall by the wayside even in G&T classrooms.

I created WonderBlossom as a learning studio—not an academy—because I want something more for her and kids like her. To me, a studio is an inviting space where ideas are played with, not drilled. I want them to grow up with the best of both worlds: the strong foundation of a public school education AND the depth, joy, and creative freedom of weekend enrichment informed by my experience in independent schools.

Most importantly, my wish for her is that she finds a circle of friends who truly understand her desire to learn and who are just as excited to chase down a thousand awesome questions. Because, let’s face it — in a world now shaped by AI and constant change, what will make us truly human is the ability to ask bold, original questions—and the knowhow to take them on with enthusiasm and confidence.

Peggy is an elementary educator and math specialist with 20 years of experience designing curricula to captivate her curious students. With degrees in Human Development from Cornell University and Early Childhood Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, Peggy understands and respects the motivations and unique developmental characteristics of gifted students. She is now committed to providing a valuable alternative to traditional extracurricular programs right in her native Queens.

As a mom of two young WonderBlossoms, Peggy creates her classes with her own children in mind. Her greatest hope is that they retain their inquisitiveness and sense of agency well into old age. Raised by parents who emphasized the fearless pursuit of knowledge and sense of self over perfect grades, she aims to instill the same values in her children — teaching them that no insect is too small to admire and no star too distant to reach.
