Kindergarten/ 1st Grade Zoologists
MAGNIFICENT MAMMALS
Saturdays, 9:30 - 11:00 A.M. (13 sessions)
Dig deep into the natural world with squirrels, badgers, and aardvarks! In this hands-on, curiosity-fueled class, we’ll meet the cute, the furry, and the downright bizarre as we explore what makes a mammal… well, a mammal.
Our young zoologists will become Mammal Detectives, who investigate:
the incredible diversity of mammals across the globe
the remarkable adaptations that help them thrive in every habitat
how mammals interact with—and impact—the ecosystems they call home.
With the help of green screen technology, we’ll “travel” to wild habitats around the world to observe mammals in action. Students will also dream up and design their own mythical mammals, complete with unique characteristics and behaviors. Using simple coding tools and programmable robots, they’ll even map a path for their imaginary creatures to explore!
2nd / 3rd Grade Savers & Entrepreneurs
Saturdays, 11:30 - 1:00 P.M. (13 sessions) — 4 students required.
NICKELS and NOGGINS
Mind your nickels and dimes — wait, what’s that? Gone are the days of spare change and piggy banks! But no matter how money looks, the core of financial literacy hasn’t changed: understanding the real value of money.
In this dynamic class, we will explore the foundations of money through hands-on activities, role-playing, storytelling, and games that bring financial concepts to life. We will learn to:
Tell the difference between needs and wants
Understand the value of saving, spending, and giving
Set small goals and patiently work toward bigger ones
Practice making smart choices with limited resources.
We’ll help students begin to develop financial habits that serve them for life: delayed gratification, responsible spending, and saving for a rainy day. At the end of this series, students will launch their own shops to sell homemade goods and showcase their money smarts to family and friends!
