MAGNIFICENT MAMMALS

Saturdays, 9:30 - 11:00 A.M. (13 sessions)

Dig deep into the natural world with squirrels, badgers, and aardvarks! In this class, we’ll meet the cute, the furry, and the super weird as we learn all about mammals. We will become Mammal Detectives as we ask, “What is a mammal and how would you know?” Through this series of lessons, we will explore the cool adaptations mammals have developed to survive in any habitat on Earth. With the help of green screens, we will transport our Mammal Detectives to the habitat their choosing. We will then create our own mystical mammal and design a habitat for it to navigate. Using simple robots, we will even code a path for our new species to travel!

  • This class includes a visit from Alley Pond Environmental Center to meet some mammals IRL.

2nd / 3rd Grade

ENGINEERING MARVELS OF ANCIENT ROME

Saturdays, 11:30 - 1:00 P.M. (13 sessions)

[Minimum of 4 students for class to run in Fall 2026.]

All roads lead to Rome… but how exactly were those roads built? Have you ever wondered how arches can be held up without any mortar? What is an aqueduct and are there any in NYC today? In this class, we will learn about just how expansive the Roman Empire was and all the engineering wonders throughout the realm to keep people, commerce, goods, and the military moving! We will construct our own arches, take virtual field trips, and stress test a dome — all without leaving the comforts of 2025! Carpe diem!
