“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”

W.B. Yeats

  • Peggy was instrumental in both my learning journey and who I am as a person. You never forget the first teacher who sees your passion, recognizes it, and encourages you to pursue what you love.

Ruby H., former student and current college student

  • "Peggy lights the spark that all children innately have, but too often gets extinguished by uninspiring teaching and rote learning."

    Miranda H., Lower School Parent

  • "You are a master."

    Connie B., G&T educator

  • "Peggy really is a child whisperer."

    Catherine L., WonderBlossom Parent

WonderBlossom is an immersive project-based learning experience where bright young minds come alive—one magical Saturday at a time.

Inspired by the best progressive private schools in NYC, WonderBlossom is where deeply curious and creative elementary students become passionate lifelong learners. We understand that children identified as gifted and talented (G&T) thrive when they’re not just memorizing facts but actively making connections, solving problems, and pursuing big ideas. Project-based learning gives them the freedom to go beyond even the weekly G&T curriculum to engage deeply with complex topics in meaningful ways. We value depth over speed, imagination over completion, and collaboration over competition — all within a loving community of expert teachers and like-minded peers.

Who We Are

We currently offer project-based enrichment for children enrolled in (or are eligible for) K-3rd grade G&T programs. Each semester, expert teachers guide students to explore one big theme by digging deeply into science, storytelling, design, and discussion. Instruction is tailored to advanced learners, with plenty of time for exploration, collaboration, and creativity. We want children to experience giving their full attention to and losing themselves in work they find interesting and relevant.

We also cap our classes at just six students for younger students, because we too value small class sizes as one of the most important educational investments parents make.

What We Offer

Project-based learning (PBL) is a hands-on, minds-on approach where students explore real-world questions and solve worthwhile problems from multiple angles. Instead of learning isolated skills in different subjects, children dive into complex themes that naturally connect science, math, literacy, and the humanities, allowing for a rich, integrated experience.

While all children benefit from PBL, gifted children, aka. curious and persistent (C&P) learners, truly excel when they are challenged to apply their knowledge in creative ways. They’re not content simply reciting animal facts; they’d rather invent, write, and tell you all about their imaginary mammals after studying real ones. Projects like this help advanced students sharpen their ability to wonder expansively, think critically, collaborate effectively, and speak confidently — all vital life skills in the age of AI and beyond.

What is Project-Based Learning?

At WonderBlossom, we teach what worksheets can’t and don’t bribe children with prizes. Learning is done for its own sake and joy.

We believe curious and persistent children really bloom when given freedom from perfection. They need the time and space to wonder, experiment, and make mistakes. We design opportunities to nurture these priceless life skills that build genuine, lasting confidence:

  • a healthy tolerance for failure,

  • the patience for improvement, and

  • the optimism to begin again.

While academic ability naturally grows through our program, our primary goal is to instill a lifelong love of learning and allow children to find and pursue their passions, not to rush them along a prescribed academic track. We hope you will join us.
